Your Credit History reportYour credit history report
will be a large influence on your purchasing options. Every time you apply for credit to purchase some home furniture, a new or used car, or a home mortgage you are giving the creditor permission to request a copy of your credit report. If other companies are approving your credit by what is on your credit history report, don’t you think it would be a benefit to you to know what information is on that report?
Once you have requested and received a copy of your credit history report you should check for any inaccuracies. First be sure that all your personal information is correct such as your name, date of birth, marital status and address. Even having an incorrect address can affect your credit status. If it looks like you have an unstable residency history your rating will drop. Also look for errors in your employment history. If you made application for credit and listed your employer with an abbreviation instead of the full company name, this will show as a change of employment.
The most important part of your credit history report is your debt history. How well have you kept on track with the credit payment schedules? If you have been thirty days late to make a payment,
you can be sure that this is listed on your credit report as well as any repossessions or bankruptcies.
You have the choice to clear up your credit report if it needs it. The difference between a good and a bad credit history can be a considerable difference to your financial future.
