Consumer Credit Reports Show Your Financial HistoryConsumer credit reports come from one of three agencies:
Trans Union, Experian or Equifax. Request your consumer credit reports from one of these agencies
and be aware of what they say about you.
Information is collected and documented on your consumer credit reports. It can
consist of your personal information and your credit history; name, date of birth, social security number, address and place of employment. Any past debts you have had with department stores, financial institutions, auto loans and mortgages
will also be included.
The first things to check for when you do receive a copy of your consumer credit reports
are the accuracy of the information. Inaccurate data is quite common since reporting agencies do not verify it. They are more concerned with charging their fee and supplying quantity instead of quality. The credit history that is on your report shows if you have had any problems with payment schedules. If your history is poor then you can take steps to clear this up and improve your credit rating.
