Credit reports are collections of credit information, accounts, and courthouse records which are kept on a credit report for up to six or seven years. Credit reports record all late payments and bad debts which can lead to credit refusals. Many credit bureaus provide credit card consolidation or loan consolidation plans that help build back your credit rating and a clean credit report. Credit card consolidation and loan consolidation will simplify your budget, providing a clear plan and path to a solution. Credit reporting bureaus, using their own credit report as well as credit reports from other credit bureaus, will guide you through the option of credit card and loan consolidation as an alternative to bankruptcy, and can help you build a solid financial plan for your future. Contact any of the three national credit reporting bureaus, Experian, Equifax or Trans Union online. American clients should contact US branches such as TRW of America and Canadian residents TRW of Canada. Be advised that while a report from any one of the credit bureaus is very useful, reports from all national bureaus will ensure you see the whole picture. If you are unsure of your credit rating, you can obtain free credit reports from a local credit bureau. When you make your request to the credit bureaus for your credit report, include your full name, your Social Security or Social Insurance Number, current address and previous address, if you moved within the last five years. Also provide your date of birth, signature, and copies of two pieces of government-issued identification to verify your signature and address. Accessing your credit reports online is easily done and well worth the little time it takes. Choose whichever of the credit bureaus you prefer and see exactly what is listed on your personal credit report. As long as you follow the guidelines of the credit bureaus and keep track of your financial records you should never need to consider credit card or loan consolidation programs.
